چکیده

The main objective of this paper is to prove new necessary conditions to the existence of KAM tori. These converse KAM conditions, can be used to detect gaps between KAM tori and Aubry-Mather sets. By exploring the connections between viscosity solutions of Hamilton-Jacobi equations, KAM and Aubry-Mather theories we develop a set of explicit a-priori estimates for smooth viscosity solutions that are valid in any space dimension, and can be checked numerically. We apply our results to detect non-integrable regions in several examples: a forced pendulum, two coupled penduli, and the double pendulum.

Converse KAM Theory for monotone

We apply variational methods to Converse KAM theory. These are useful for symplectomorphisms in the annulus that satisfy weaker hypotheses than those usually required. For instance, we do not need the existence of a global Lagrangian generating function. We obtain the variational principles from the primitive function of our symplectomorphism. They are introduced not only for the orbits of a sy...

Viscosity Solutions of Hamilton-jacobi Equations, and Asymptotics for Hamiltonian Systems

In this paper we apply the theory of viscosity solutions of Hamilton-Jacobi equations to understand the structure of certain Hamiltonian flows. In particular, we describe the asymptotic behavior of minimizing orbits of Hamiltonian flows by proving a weak KAM theorem which holds under very general conditions. Then, using Mather measures, we prove results on the uniform continuity, difference quo...

The Lax-Oleinik semi-group: a Hamiltonian point of view

The Weak KAM theory was developed by Fathi in order to study the dynamics of convex Hamiltonian systems. It somehow makes a bridge between viscosity solutions of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation and Mather invariant sets of Hamiltonian systems, although this was fully understood only a posteriori. These theories converge under the hypothesis of convexity, and the richness of applications mostly com...

Weak KAM Theory: the connection between Aubry-Mather theory and viscosity solutions of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation

The goal of this lecture is to explain to the general mathematical audience the connection that was discovered in the last 20 or so years between the Aubry-Mather theory of Lagrangian systems, due independently to Aubry and Mather in low dimension, and to Mather in higher dimension, and the theory of viscosity solutions of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation, due to Crandall and Lions, and more precis...
